Ok, now is the time to start Samba :-)

Make sure you configured everything right in Miami and that you have saved the configuration.

Fire up your text editor and make a file like this:

run >nil: samba:bin/nmbd -D
Miamisysctl -w inetd.toomany=50
....

Save the file at this location or wherver you want.

I have it in the Miami: folder.

Now select 'Events' in Miami menu, and edit the "Online" event.

Make sure you script you just make get executed.

Now every time you press online. This script will be run and start the samba stuff.

Here is how it look's to me:

Press online on Miami and Samba should be started :)

But, you still need to configure your workgroup, shares , printers etc..

Why would I want you to start Samba then do you think ?

Is he insane and want to fool me again, thinking that I'm finshed ?  :-)

No no no, it's course we will also start 'Swat' that is an web interface to configure the magic smb.cfg that is the main configuration file for samba. It handels the sharenames, workgorup and all the cfg settings.

Swat is much better/simpler to use to configure this file, as the file itself is quite hard.

Fire up you web browser;

Type in your hostname i.e amiga4000; as I have and a ':' and 901.

Here's how I ment:

Why amiga4000:901 ?, remeber when we where configuring Miami?, check the intd in the database.

You notice that it set up to port 901. If you like changed it to 1000. You just had to write amiga4000:1000.

Now press globals and this information should show:

Ok, ok, this may not look like this for you.

The important onces you need to configure is:

workgroup:
Make sure you and the pc is in the same workgroup.

netbios name:
Make sure it's the same as the hostname.

Server string:
Basicly the comment field for your server.

Interfaces:
ipaddress/netmask. Make sure it's correct.

Security:
Quite important, make sure it's share.

Guest account:
Make sure it's pcguest, that's why we made it.

Log file:
Make sure it points to an correct path ,/samba/log/log.%m means samba:log/log."mashinename"

This is basicly the most important things to setup.
Now Samba should work quite ok. But let's share some drives as well.

Make sure it's look somewhat like this.

Rember that /sys means sys:

Ok; press 'commit changes' when you finished.
